Kiel was born in Michigan and has resided in Tennessee since he was eight years old. Following graduation from high school he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served as infantry rifleman and completed a tour to Afghanistan. After his service, Kiel earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University in 2014.  During his undergraduate studies, he was a member of the Blue Raider American Veteran organization, Tau Sigma National Honor Society, and the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Honor Society.

Kiel graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2018 from Belmont University College of Law in Nashville, Tennessee. During law school Kiel was a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Mark J. Fishburn in Davidson County, served as an intern for the Nashville Predators, and worked as a summer associate for several law firms in the Nashville area.  Immediately prior to joining the firm, Kiel was a Judicial Law Clerk for the 21st Judicial District in Williamson County.

In his spare time Kiel enjoys hiking, kayaking, following the Nashville Predators and Tennessee Volunteers, and spending time with his Golden Retriever, Justice. Kiel is also a proud Michigan Wolverines fan.
