Richard H. Batson was born in Clarksville, Tennessee, and has continuously practiced with the firm since 1957. After years of practice principally in the area of trial work and the defense of various suits involving bodily injury, products liability, libel and slander law, and commercial law, Mr. Batson presently concentrates in General Business/Corporation Law, Land Development, and Industrial Development areas of the law. His past experience includes organizing and serving as counsel for several non-profit corporations and foundations.
Mark is a native of Clarksville and a graduate of Clarksville High School. He attended college at Austin Peay State University and the University of Tennessee Knoxville where he received a B.S. in Business Administration, followed by law school at Mississippi College School of Law. Mark has been with the firm of Batson Nolan, PLC over 25 years now, having clerked during law school and then beginning his practice full time in 1992. He currently serves as Managing Member of the firm.
Christy is a Springfield native and a graduate of Springfield High School. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She attended the law school at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. While in law school, she was a member of Tennessee Journal of Practice and Procedure, and authored Anastoff v. United States: Precedence of Unpublished Opinions.
John Crow joined Batson Nolan as an associate attorney in 2009 after earning his law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Crow graduated high school from Clarksville Academy and attended Vanderbilt University where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Jamie Durrett is a native of Clarksville. She graduated from Montgomery Central High School the stayed in Clarksville to attend Austin Peay State University where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Sciences in Languages in Literature in 2004. During her time at Austin Peay, Jamie was a charter member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority chapter on campus.
Matthew was born in Clarksville and raised in nearby Cedar Hill, Tennessee. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Navy. After his service, he returned home to attend Austin Peay State University. He graduated in 2000 and went on to attend law school at The Vermont Law School. Upon graduation in 2004, Matthew began his practice with Batson Nolan.
Jon is a native of Logan County, Kentucky and a graduate from Logan County High School, in Russellville. He graduated from the University of Kentucky, at Lexington with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics with a Minor in Business Management. He is a 2015 graduate from the Nashville School of Law. While in law school, Jon was a scholarship recipient, and NSL representative to the 2014-2015 Harry Phillips American Inn of Court
Tracy Provo Knight joined Batson Nolan as an associate attorney in 2018. Ms. Knight was born and raised in Clarksville, and is a fifth generation Clarksvillian. She attended Clarksville Academy from kindergarten through high school, and attended Austin Peay State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then attended Middle Tennessee State University, Jennings College of Business where she earned a Master of Business Administration. Tracy later earned her Juris Doctor from the Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law, where we she was a Law Review contributor.
Suzanne G. Marsh is a Member of the firm. She attended college at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1989. After graduating from Austin Peay, Suzanne attended law school at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. During her time at Cumberland, she served as Associate Editor of The Cumberland Law Review, as an Associate Justice for the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board, and as a Cordell Hull Teaching Assistant. She is also a member of the Order of Barristers.
Matt Miller was raised in Brentwood, Tennessee. He attended college at David Lipscomb University graduating in 1993 with a B.S. in Biology. He attended law school at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, earning a J.D. in 1998. During law school, Matt was selected to the University of Memphis law review and the Moot Court Board where he served as an associate editor and judge. Matt also received the Glencoe McGraw-Hill Award for the most outstanding graduate paper in the nation, and was inducted into the American Inns of Court and is published as an author in law reviews and legal treatises.
Philip M. Mize is a Member of Batson Nolan PLC and he primarily practices in the areas of Serious Personal Injury & Wrongful Death; Insurance Defense; Commercial Law; Construction Law, and Family Law.
Dan was raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended college at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Dan stayed in Knoxville to attend law school at the University of Tennessee. He graduated with his law degree in 1965. He then practiced law briefly in Maryville and Knoxville, Tennessee before moving to Clarksville to join the firm, known then as Daniel, Harvill & Batson. Dan became a Member of the firm shortly thereafter and has practiced here ever since then.
Lauren is a native Tennessean who was raised in Nashville. She attended the University of Tennessee where she majored in Political Science and graduated magna cum laude. As an undergraduate, Lauren was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society, and Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.
Sam Short is a native of Lawrence County and a graduate of Lawrence County High School. After high school, Sam entered the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and joined the Volunteer family as a freshman. After four years of study, he graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science and History and membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society, Phi Eta Sitma, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda, and Phi Sigma Theta academic societies.
John Stephens is a native of Dickson, TN. He attended Austin Peay State University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. During that time, he served as president of the local chapter of Psi Chi, a national honor society.
Austin is of counsel with the firm, and has been practicing law since 1993. Austin graduated magna cum ladue from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Political Science. He went on to obtain his J.D. from the University of Tennessee in 1993.
